Brown Bear Makes His Rounds

Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks agents were called to the intersection of Maurice and Woodward in the University District late Tuesday morning for a report of a large black bear that had climbed a tree.

FWP tranquilized the bear to remove him for safety, but he fell asleep before coming down.

Missoula firefighters tried to help remove the 200-pound bruin with ropes, but the bear slipped through, falling 40 feet to the ground. The bear was OK and was taken away for relocation.

FWP officials told Montana’s News Station that they believe this is the same bear that’s been causing neighborhood problems in the Pattee Canyon area over the last few weeks. (KBZK Bozeman News)
