Something to watch for are the Iris beds at Fort Missoula. Recently the Missoula Iris Society volunteers were out cleaning up the flower beds. That means that new plants will be sprouting and flowering this Spring. If you haven’t seen them before, they are well worth taking the time to see this year.
One bed started in 1981 has developed into a wonderful garden full of all kinds and all colors of iris. The gardens make a beautiful backdrop for gatherings of all kinds, from weddings to reunions. It is a community garden that is appreciated by everyone who sees it.
“Named in honor of Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow, the flower comes in a spectrum of colors, the most popular being the deep blue variety”, Gray explained. From the earliest days, the iris has come to represent faith, hope, wisdom, courage and admiration.
Managed and cared for by the 40-member Missoula Iris Society, the garden could always use additional hands and the society additional members.
What a beautiful day for a Easter Egg hunt . The sun was out the sky was blue and even the Easter Bunny and helper came out to East Missoula for a awesome egg hunt.
The park was full of excited kids chomping at the bit to get out and collect eggs, candy and prizes.
A big thanks to all who helped make it a big success.
Come Sat. morning April 23 the Lions Park in E. Missoula will be transformed into a giant Easter egg hunt for children of all ages. The hunt will start at 1pm and there will be tons of eggs full of prizes and candy. I’m pretty sure that the Easter Bunny will be making an appearance, too!

When I was a teenager I was always looking for inspiration to write. I would have really enjoyed taking part in a teen writers group. I found out this week on the internet such a group meets at the Missoula Public Library. What a great resource for young adults to learn and grow. Here’s the information I found on the Missoula Downtown Page:
Description:
Are you a teen writer who needs a little inspiration and/or feedback? Come to the teen writers group and let your inner artist flourish. Meeting places vary, but the Young Adult Librarian on duty will know where to send you.
Age Group: Teens
Venue: Missoula Public Library
Address: 301 East Main Missoula, MT 59802
Phone: 406 721 2665
Sometimes it isn’t WHAT we say, BUT HOW we say it! I enjoyed this video, made me stop and think. Hope you enjoy it, too.

The schools need our support more than ever in these difficult times. I cannot think of a more valuable investment than in education, schools, and children of our community! These are some of our most valuable resources and I believe we must pull together in the face of adversity and difficult times to build and invest in the future of our community. Your voice will matter, so make it a point to vote. Thank you. Judy
C.S. Porter Middle School Spring Showcase is a celebration of student achievement that will display the many facets of education. These include: song, dance, video, art projects, written work, class projects, and more.
The community is invited to attend
the Spring Showcase

It is a great way to check out the school and see some of the projects.
These recitals are always a treat! There is a small $10 general admission fee, or $5 for students and/or seniors. Performance is at 7:30 p.m. at the UM University Theater. Hmmm, coffee at the Buttercup then stroll over to campus for the recital. Fun evening! Judy Wahlberg, Neighborhood Advocate Volunteer, University District.
