Here in East Missoula the neighbors are coming out of hibernation from a long winter. The smell of fresh cut grass is in the air. Tree’s are budding, tulips are poking there heads out of the earth. Baseball games at the park have started. Time to be outside in the yards getting the garden ready for planting. Happy Spring!
What a beautiful day for a Easter Egg hunt . The sun was out the sky was blue and even the Easter Bunny and helper came out to East Missoula for a awesome egg hunt.
The park was full of excited kids chomping at the bit to get out and collect eggs, candy and prizes.
A big thanks to all who helped make it a big success.
Come Sat. morning April 23 the Lions Park in E. Missoula will be transformed into a giant Easter egg hunt for children of all ages. The hunt will start at 1pm and there will be tons of eggs full of prizes and candy. I’m pretty sure that the Easter Bunny will be making an appearance, too!
This morning in East Missoula I woke up to a herd of Elk grazing on Mt Jumbo. There were over 50 head. What a great way to start the day!
With the coming of spring people are out again. I see them at the school playing with dogs or kids playing on the courts and swing set. Spring sports are starting up and practice is going on. There are some new businesses and some old ones reopening. If you want to comment on what’s new around the hood, do it here!
This seems like it has been a winter of more than usual gray skies and dark nights. I was told there have only been seven days of sunshine since October, a statistic I can’t verify, but I believe it! The snow we had on New Years Day was fun though unless you had to drive. Most people in town don’t realize how much it snowed out here.
All I know is the sunny days this past week were sure a nice change and a real attitude lifter. So now that it’s staying light later, get out and enjoy it! There are a lot of outdoor activities that can be done right out the door in East Missoula. Enjoy and embrace the weather … spring will be here soon enough !!!
Last night there was an invasion on East Missoula with all sorts of little scary people. All in all I would say Halloween was a pumpkin smashing success. Good Job Kids !
Sitting in East Missoula you can always look up and see Mule Deer on mount Jumbo and in the winter it is common to see Elk. Recently there have been several bear sightings right in East Missoula and I have had bear scat in my front yard. There are many bird species that call East Missoula home, too. If you play golf at Canyon River, there is a very good chance of running into a Fox. Be aware there are Mountain Lions and Wolves around, also. I have seen a wolf along the river two separate times. Hikers are regularly reporting Lion sightings. “Watch your dogs” as I have had my issues with Raccoons and Skunks.
You don’t have to drive a long way to see wildlife, just go out to East Missoula and look around.
Reno Bar closed the doors of its bar for good July 31 after 73 years. In the 60s and 70s, East Missoula was a hot spot for dancing between the Cabin and Reno. The good news is the Restaurant will stay open. For my money it’s the best food value in Missoula.
Tubing the rivers has been a Missoula past time for as long as I remember, but there seems to be a new trend in floating into town from East Missoula instead of going up the Blackfoot … it makes sense to me. The fun starts at Sha – Ron
